You may find fibreglass wide guards from Vintage vee dub

Most people widen the original guards..

I'm sure there will be someone on here that can widen them for You.. without them looking like bits have been added...

in the USA You can buy wider bumpers and running boards so the wide guards don't look out of place..

cheers

Jamie,
Why are you going widened guards? How wide are the wheels you want to put under there going to be?

Depending on the width, offset and size, you might not even have to widen the originals.
Or, with a bit of cutting in the suspension and pan, you'll fit anything under the originals.

I know of someone who put 14x12's at the rear under a 64 beetle with original guards, it can be done with a lot of cutting and welding.

Hmm, 17x13's are massive... You'll definitely need some wider guards for them that is for sure.

I think you should build whatever you want to build. It is your car, personalise it, make it your car and stand out from the crowd.
That's what I'm doing with mine once I've got the current issues sorted.

Try day moldings in the UK. They do fglass wide wings.

To save killing the orig wings just buy some repro ones. Widening is easy-ish. Strip of 0.8mm steel. Bit panel beating to get the curve right n you'll be good to go.

the common ones that are 3" wider are the ones that flare out at the edge, they would look shite on an oval... i have them on my car, drag car. they look ok but i'd much prefer stock lookers. most widend guards off the shelf are only 2" wider, hit westi up... i think he makes stock look guards up to 4" wider.
