female? or under 25? want to race cars?
If you are wanting to get into speed events this might be the cheapest way out. Wollongong Sporting Car Club is offering free membership for 2012 and
free entry to the hillclimb next weekend, 19th February. Saving you $130.
So all you will need to do is fit a 900g/1kg fire extinguisher and a CAMS L2S licence (which we can fix up on the day). If you want any more info head
over to http://www.wscc.org.au

Good luck with your event Chris,
your hill is regarded by myself and many other hillclimb drivers as one of the best in the land.
Why, because it,s fast, flowing, and has consiquences, love it.
Cheers Col

Not necessary Joel,
Drop in to see Ian and Rose on the way down. Rose will deck you out, Ian will chat you up,....... just like winning a prize (if she's done a good
enough job)
Then, go to "the Gong" and race,........... win a prize, then keep all the gear for "dress up night" at Valla,............ win a prize and give it
all back to Rose at Valla when you're finished.
Just keep a sharp eye out for Birchall at all times.
Couldn't be easier, so simple you could go as a blonde.
Regards,
Matt.

Family day [wife's birthday] on Sunday, otherwise I'd be there.....attempting to re-gain my record!
Have a good day, all those who do go. Huntley is a great hillclimb, and top marks to all those who persevered with preventing its demise.
I'd rather wear a Beetle out by racing it than by polishing it!

You'll be wide open throttle pretty much start to finish. But thats OK. Even the quickest cars should be doing the same. The only place you back off
at Huntley is coming into the right-left esses.
The right hander is off camber. The following left hander is tighter. If you're going too fast for the right, you wont make it through the left. 99%
of accidents happen on the left hander. Its only really 1 3/4 cars wide. If you run wide and put a rear wheel onto the dirt you have a decent chance
of putting the nose into the tyre barrier on the left. Why do so many people push so hard through here? Because it gets steeper again around there.
You need to try and carry as many kmh as you can.
Its a challenging 700m piece of road. You'll either love it or hate it. There are a lot of people who dont like it because it is so steep, they call
it a power hill. To an extent they are right. But you still have to pick your line through the fork as it sets you up for the braking area at the
esses and if you dont wash off enough speed into the right ess and drift left, you will be on the inside of the track for the left ess, and you'll
need to wash off more speed, when really you want to be planting the go pedal... but not too much because of the reason outlined above. its nowhere
near as easy as planting your foot from go to whoa. And I guess thats why some records just hang around forever huh greg. There have been plenty of
cars that make potent sounds that would spin big numbers on dynos and still fail at hillclimbing.
Just like Wakefield though, you dont go out to break records on the opening lap and all will be good.

Shaun, that's good advice there from Chris.
One day, a few years back, I told Peter Gumley he had 'Traction Control'. "No I haven't....I took it off, because it was quicker without it!"
Then I told him I didn't mean the 'electronic' type........it's 'control' between the brain and the right foot that's important.
I'd rather wear a Beetle out by racing it than by polishing it!
