Engine type? (Sorry)
Sorry for the stupids q's (But to be honest you may as well get used to it )
What engine type is this?
Its in my '76 camper
Oh and shouldn't it have 2 carbs?

type 4 depending on engine code prefix (infront of black tin canister near the front of the engine fan shroud has one too but rarely matches) ap 1800
, cj 2000 these would be most common but are others 1700 ca and injected 2ltr and hydraulic cammed 2ltr, centre carb is crap weber conversion, yes
normally had twin solexes or injected, looks like it could have been injected with the relays still on the fire wall on the left, near the back of the
battery is there an extra mount and a slot for the inj computer to sit ? and if acc cable comes out on the rhs of engine it was injected but could
also be auto ..maybe..

All '76 models were 2 litre. Some were injected.
I read it on samba, so it must be correct.
Sometimes Volkswagen dealers sell spare parts. Amazing isn't it!

'75 was the last of the 1600s.

I notice that the hoses are missing from the fan to the heater ducts so it is possible that hot air is coming back up those ducts into the engine bay.
You can either replace the hoses or block off the ducts.
