The best result would be a media blaster that will do soda/ bead blasting of the sensitive outer panels, and sand/ garnet blasting of the solid shape and rusty areas.

The best places are charging about $2000 for a complete car and panels.

We get a car done about once every two weeks at our work.

Depending on the blaster. The place we use will surface prep all of the metal, being hot soapy water on soda blasted panels, and then De-oxidine on all panels.

They will also etch prime or epoxy prime panels at a cost. Or you can do it your self.

Time = $

Red from Metal prep in Kingston has done a great job on 2 of my beetles. He used to be a panel beater so he knows how to blast without damaging the car and he etch primes afterwards.

He is always busy though so it might depend on your timetable.

If you have a tight budget a carefully used grinder will have the outside of your panels in clean shiny metal for about $30 worth of discs. The inside of your doors etc. can be cleaned and sanded by hand, its all about how much you want to spend.
