Front and Rear Bug Bumper - How do i tell the difference

This might sound a bit dumb, but I have a couple of bumpers and I just wanted to make sure I had them the right way around. They are both the same width, but one is more curved (the one on the right) than the other. The more curved one also has a scallop cut out of it.

Is the more curved one a front and the straighter one a rear?

Also, I think they are German bars as they have been stored under my house for the last 2 years and it is a bit damp down there and the chrome, while a bit rusty hasn't deteriorated too much. If they weren't German I would assume the chrome would have almost all peeled off by now. Is this a fair assumption?

The more curved one is the rear. Not sure about the damp though, it may depend on if it was touching a damp surface rather than just being in a damp area.
