Supercharging a 1500 single port


Hi guys,
I helping a mate build his LWB buggy.
Nearly done. Starting to think donk. He's impressed with my 1916 supercharged performance and is now thinking he needs more oomph for his!
His engine is a 1500 SP
I have a 1600DP laying around but wondering how the 1500 will handle being boosted with an sc12....

no worries it can take a 14 even it's kinda funny but the smalleer engines seem to handle the bost of a blower more so than the bigger motors,i think it the problem of air there is just so much you can cram into a in let manafold operning
short answer go for it and you can run the pullies at 1 t 1 no worries

Thanks for responding.
I'm going to do it! Started fabricating a second kit tonight!
Actually I found the manufacturers website for an sc12. You can spin them to 11000rpm continuous peak is 13000.
I'm turning mine to 9000 on my 1916

Keep the boost sensible you will be fine, bout 5-6psi.

H blocks are good motors when kept stockish but not one of VWs better bottom ends for extracting more power out of.

Hi

As Joel said they are not the best motor to use, that model motor is prone to pulling head studs, I thing the magnesium alloy that was used was more brittle.

So take the tinware off and try tensioning the heads to find out if any have pulled.

At least if it all turns to shit you will still have the set up to reuse.

as the boys have said the magnesium is a bit soft but you can put the bigger case savers in to give you a bit more purchase on it if you find they are pulling.
