Hi Dylan
NGK are OK ... same as Bosch..
I wouldn't use Champion in My lawn mower.. lol

Use never seize on the threads or Moly grease etc to stop the steel spark plugs from interaction with the alloy heads..

I've always done this, even with new cars and never had any problems with the spark plug threads..

hi again Dylan

the spark plug leads sold by most VW shops have wire in them
which was the original type of leads..
they don't burn out like carbon or silicon leads, or break..

I have broken the silicon inside NEW silicon spark plug leads just pulling the lead off the coil...
that is how fragile they are...

these leads are also the cheapest.. lol and the spark plug connectors are made to fit them

Hi Dylan use the Bosch W8AC the cap screws off and the thread length is correct, over the years we found that a few makes of plug extended into the cylinder and became clogged with carbon.when they were taken out the thread also came with them. I have a new set of original leads with the connectors and this will rectify your problem if you fit the Bosch plugs. Just pm if you want them. Les

I believe NGK have a cut thread where Bosch and Beru have a rolled thread which is more correct for VW heads, also as stated above, preference is for copper leads with the resistive bakerlite plug cap. These are better for the hot environment and most importantly are matched to your 5k ohm distributor rotor to have the correct overall resistance. If using silicone leads, you should use a rotor with zero resistance.

When I had a Lancer Mitsubishi didn't recommend platinium spark plugs. Suzuki doesn't recommend them either..
and these are 3 or 4 valve per cylinder heads..

Well My Bosch plugs have the metal caps that come off and My leads fit the caps.. but the caps undo.. lol..

You should buy Your spark plugs from a VW parts shop, as they should sell You the correct plugs...

Matt
I bought a rotor from the USA years ago with no resistor in it.
but haven'e been able to find it... lol
I don't see these for sale in Australia..??

I use Magnetti Marelli electronic ignition
that run through copper lead to dizzy
silicone leads to the NGK plugs

I use silicone leads because they're blue
also I use NGK BP5HS or something
because bosch W8AC were obsolete at the shop I went to when I bought it.

You get them from a Holden dealer.

I read it on samba, so it must be correct.

Sometimes Volkswagen dealers sell spare parts. Amazing isn't it!
