 Engine wanted for Nats Supersprint

Would like to get a BIG engine for No.8 Beetle, for the Supersprints in May. Bigger the better.... it can be over 2 litres, but needs to be reliable,
not a 'hand-grenade'. Any suggestions?

Email.....greg@kirrapak.com if you can help. I'm in Bowral, 2576.

Cheers,

Greg

Greg,

I've got a 1300... which is bigger than the 1200 the car came with but i'm sure this isn't what your after!

What happened to your current engine?

Nothing wrong with the current engine......just hasn't got enough HP. It is too good to pull down, and I will keep it for a 'spare'. The 140 or so
HP @ 6000 RPM is not enough to make up for the extra weight of the roll cage......needs to be about 160, or more.

I'm hearing you Greg.

Try Rod Penrose. He normally has engines lying around.

I've got a 3.88 R&P now and a ZF diff. My measly 96 RWHP gives me no chance at loosening up the back. In fact, i now think a bit of inside rear
wheel spin helped keep the engine on song exiting slow corners.

Ponies wanted here as well.

It might be time to swap the mini D-ports with the wedgeports. Can anyone recommend someone good to fly cut the heads in Sydney?

Greg, could you play with gear or diff ratios to give you more out of corner punch ?

Have decided to stay with the 'old' engine. It's been going for over 4 years now, so 'the devil you know' applies. Thanks for the
suggestions.

Suspension, wheels and tyres is where I've been fiddling. With a bigger front anti-roll bar, changes to the swing-axle geometry, and a set of 16"
wheels [Kuhmo R-spec tyres fitted], it should corner better. We will find out at the Supersprints.
