Mounting bracket (Inertia Reel Seat Belts)

Wanting to put in my inertia reel retractable front seatbelts but being a 1972 S bug it dosent have the Mounting metal peice so the reel clears the body of the car. Does anyone have any old brackets or a template for me to make my own?

I Might have yours then mate, Jeff gave me some but 1 of the buckels is fiddly and pops out at times and the other side don't reel back in after un cliping them. I Was going to put in my original beetle ones i had a very good set but i could only find the back seat ones I was spewin. I much prefer the original style but just with having different passengers in the car it would be easyer on them if there was retractables.

Thats because you bounce up & down in your seat and it makes them tighten up, must be a beam thing

Yeah I Have had no problems with Inetia reels in a superbug. to be honest i've never owned anything else. Between me and dad we have owned 5 Superbugs 3 S bug's and 2 L Bugs. But for performance and racing i prefer the original restraints as i feel more safer in them.

the only time I can remember being in a beetle with inertia seat belts, You had a job to pull them out unless they were at the perfect angle which was hard??

I have some in My shed.. not sure what they are out of...
but My lap/sash are OK...

better than lap only.. in the front.. lol

maybe Lachlan has the difficult to pull out problem??

I have fitted them to both of our beetles and they work fine. You just need to buy the 90 degree angle bracket to have them sit properly.

yep exactly right the angle is a pain in the ass to get perfect. when u think its all good and done go to pull them out and lock they dont move. i recon i wasted an hour and a half trying to get one belt right. there just not worth it stick to ur originals.

I am on my 3rd set now (since the car was new in 1975) - I have found them fine untill they start to wear out - as most things do.
