Removing Rain Gutters...
Trying to decide whether to do it or not during my restoration. Would be removed all the way from the vertical seam by the front of the door to the
back window.
Can anyone add to my list of Ps and Cs?
Pros: Looks great, reduce chance of rust in the area
Cons: Rain can run in so seals better be DAMN good, amount of work

It Would have to be re-enforced from the inside from an engineering point of veiw because the roof gutters give the roof turret alot of nessisary
strenth.

It's a lot of work.
I only did the part from the running boards upto the top hinge and it's not an easy job to do.
Unless you are experience at welding and metal shaping, or have deep pockets to pay someone to do it, don't touch it.
Yes it does look great, but it is a pain to get right.

Gringo 54 on here did his, looks great. I heard of a guy with a mini that did it as well, they picked apart the whole car and then rebent the the lips
to turn them inside out.

I was going to get someone to do it and he has been restoring VWs for 22 years and is confident.
However one of the reasons I wanted to do it was to reduce the chance of rust. It's going to be sandblasted anyway so one would hope that would
remove a lot of the chances of getting rest there in the future anyway... might toss the idea.

Dont think it will help with rust
A lot of the rust that forms there is from the channel on the inside

I'm with most people here......don't do it. The rust and body cracking will be a continuing problem down the track. And water pissing in your door
would be a pita.

On de-seamed Minis it usually seems to promote rust in the area where the seams used to be. A mate of mine had a de-seamed Mini and it was bubbling
all the way along the seam lines. Rust holes as well. That was a very rusty car though, and the quality of the original work may not have been that
great. I certainly don't think it prevents rust though.
