Kombi rear suspension disassembly
Hi guys,
Going to completely strip the Rear suspension off my Kombi for sandblasting and can only find info about lowering not stripping down,
Took all the bolts out today, shock is out etc.
Is there a systematic way of taking apart? Or is there a wrong way of doing it? Do I need to put spring plates back on and somehow gently lower arms
with a jack to release tension? I'm guessing so after watching a few you tube lowering tutorials.
Cheers mike

remove hubs first then spring plates and arms , dissconect handbrake and brake lines first , if your happy with ride height mark where spring plates
sit when you pop them just off the bottom lip on torsion housing , but still on the splines , busses dont usually have a big pre tension on
springplates unless there raised

Thanks, going with new adjustable arms when I'm ready to re-assemble but how will I know the standard position when I change over?

You don't like the adjustable spring plates Matt? More I think about them the less I need the expense.
Nope didn't measure stock height as there is no engine and gearbox in when bought it 4 years ago so no idea where it's at.

Agree, you only need them if you are going really really low so that its easier to change the wheels, but you would still need to undo the shock mount
to change the wheel if you are that low as the hub would mot drop down enough?

depending what shocks you use , and rim/ tyres . a pre 62 flat rear arch would likely need the shock removed but bay has heaps of room again depending
on rim/tyre so far I've fitted 5 sets to busses creative engineering and some from kimm and are yet to disconnect shock (and these are all lowww
busses) and running 9650 and 9652 empi shocks
