quick question about ECU wiring fan switch

Finally wiring the fans to the ECU.

Diagram says

battery volts = off
0 volts = on

I assume this means I wire a 12v feed to the relay and let the ECU ground it to earth?

That's correct, the ECU grounds the relay

Yes that's how I wired my van.

Hi Pete

So are keeping it?

Wiring the fan to the ECU will bring it on when the motor gets hot, I have switch in the radiator as well wired to battery, the few times that I've run my bug the ECU switches the fan on 1st every time

Dunno if I'm keeping it. Had a few enquiries but nothing solid. It's still for sale but I'm sick of *&#%$& davies craig mechanical switch that screws up every few years.

Another question.

I have twin fans and twin fan control hookups on the ecu. Should I run both off the one hookup or let the ECU control both fans independently?

Hi Pete

I'm not sure if understand your issue, is only one fan coming on? The two fans on the Subaru come on at different temps, one at lower temps the other as the motor gets hotter if the 1st one doesn't cool the it down enough.

Pete, you might find that the second fan is only for when the air conditioner is turned on. That is how my ECU works anyway and I am fairly sure your motor is very similar to mine.

Yeah, I think that's the go. I'll trace the wiring and run both fans off the one feed.

hi Pete, I did the same on mine. both fans come on together now. The smaller fan I think is meant to come on when the air-con is switched on from what I have read, which is always on in a buggy...
