He was most likely worried about people running into the back of him because the tailights on 50s bug aren't all that easy to see for the average driver, they had no blinkers in them, the car only had semaphores

It aint RHD, it is original, it needs a major restoration and it is one of only 831 Zwitters (oval dash split) Cabrios made. It will be exactly 60 years old on the 28th October this year and has to be one of the oldest Zwitters around. It was delivered from the Karmann factory on the 28th October 1952 to Kraus VW of Nuremberg the following day.
The Chassis Number is 1-0397910 and the original 25hp motor was 481436.
The first Zwitter Cabrio Chassis Number is 1-0397116
Three of the rims are stamped "3 52" and they are 15 inch and not 16 inch
The car came to Oz originally back in 1958 and was partially converted to RHD in 1959 however the speedo remains on the left hand side.
The vehicle is very complete and comes with a new roof and wood bows allowing whoever does the resto to watch it come together from the ground up. Some small trim items including sunvisors and the alloy frame for the interior light are still required.
There is no 25Hp motor however the vehicle will come with a 36 HP engine with original Okrasa kit if required.
The vehicle is located in Sydney and is for sale at $25K firm.
It needs alot of work, alot of devotion and an expansive bank balance. The purchaser will end up with one very special heritage vehicle, certainly one of most unique and historical VWs in Australia.

EM me if there is any serious interest.
