Street brawl for cheap splitty in Sydney now headed to England

Did you notice the splitty in the Trading post today in Sydney? I did .
Straight unrego green $2,500 sounded good .
Well coincidently I went with a work mate to view the Light blue oval window for sale , which was advertised directly under the splitty in the Trader.
The oval seller rocks up checks out my 13 window Deluxe and says nice I want one . I say did you see the standard bus in the Trading post today? "yes" he says and goes on to explain that he had just come from looking at it and that is why he is a little late .
Trouble was when he got there ,there are two other parties and all at the same time and all wnting the bus.
The splitty selller brings out the bus and its nice and quite straight nearly complete .
Heres the Rub selller declares I have just been offered over the phone $3500 from a guy in Queensland sight unseen . A pommie says $4000 and the oval seller things mmm $4500 nah this pommie is very serious and will bid $5000 imediately.
Pommie gets it It is headed back to England.

Sad but true and hot off the press.
I suppose the moral is be quick or kick the pommy in the balls or at least kick the pommy in the balls.

This is sad but true ,word for word from the oval seller

The pale blue oval looks nice no rust he wants $8500 and laments that perhaps he should advertise in England, trouble is he is probably right!
I really hope my mate gets it first.
MitCHeLL:cool:.:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

P.S. I dont hate pommies not ALL of them anyway.

I didnt think that the oval seller was serious about selling OS just peeved at missing the bus to the pommie.
My friend can certainly buy the oval if he thinksits worth it.
He like me doesnt really know what its worth.

Like I said if you know you will get more for it OS why get PPL's hopes up here and then send it off, I dont see anything wrong with someone trying get a bargain, not all of us are rich, and it would be a fair bet that just about everyone on this forum has at least once gotten something cheaper than they thought, "a bargain" I dont see anything wrong with a person who is an enthusiest, and genuinely wants a certain car to restore, getting it for a good price.

The problem is they don't want them to restore. They want them for their shops. The average English person is not going to travel all the way to Aust to look at a car and then go back with it. Not very economical. On the other hand if your a shop and send back a few cars you make a killing back home. Just look in Volks World magazine. There is always aussie cars for sale. I don't dispute that eventually it may end up in the hands of a collector but these guys buying are just in it for a quick buck. Hell we'd be doing the same if we could buy them from overseas. I'd love to buy some of those cool cars in Indonesia. I am sure if we started doing that the Indonesians would have a spit. Maybe oneday our friggin economy will pick up and it will stop. Blame the politician. Hell we blame them for everything else. It ashame to see them going overseas.

Sorry didn't clarifie that very well! what I ment is that an Aussie maybe cant pay as much as someone from OS or maybe they can, but from the latest info I get from here and the papers and other web sites this seems to be the case.
There is nothing wrong with the Aussie trying to get it before the big buck OS buyer, that was my point! what I cant understand about the previously talked about sale is, if the seller knew that it would get a bigger price OS why advertise it here!
The only thing I can think was the case, is he was hopeing it would stay here!

Still didn't say that very well! better give up now, before I totally confuse PPl.

Robo ,I dont think the seller considered an overseas buyer , or the value of the splitty it just turned out that an Overseas buyer saw the ad an turned up and that this guy had a better economic imperative(sic)? to make it his .
It was probably good value at $2500 especially to an Aussie buyer trouble is to a pommie exporter/importer it was still probably a good prospect for him at double that.

Hey i've just gotta add my bit here. Can I just say I am a pom now with permanent residency in this beautiful country. I rang from queensland after seeing the splitty in the tarding post. Good buy I thought and he said he had someone coming to have a look. Now because I have missed out on so many over the past few months I said I would pay him the full asking price sight unseen this was $2500 not $3500. He said to be fair to the other people he would let them have first refusal. Hey thats cool! anyway he rings me back and says it was sold for $4000 to a pommie living in Sydney. Dont lets get paranoid there are a few going overseas but there are many more that are rotting out in peoples backyards, and its always the same story they are going"to be restored soon". then cover the bloody things up dont let them rot away coz we cant get them back onjce they are gone. Or sell them to someone who will restore them for thier own personal pleasure. Its a human fault, $$$, anyone will sell for as much as possible. This guy in Sydney I believe genuiely didnt know it was going out of the country, if it is?? but dont tar all poms with the same brush.

No drama's man
You english can have neighbours and home & away! never watch them, and most PPl I know don't watch it either, why do you think Kylie lives over there! no one cares about her here! mabe the whole cast of both shows should move over as well, and OZ could get some dignity back!
