Update

Windows and doors this week. Front seats and Marilyn's image and name on the front quarter panels next, then, final clear coat on the front and the last of the guards and bumper and lid. Seals plates and rego, so hope to have it on road and legal by mid December. (But we'll see.)

Some opinions wanted.

Is it better to keep the bumpers to go with the carrera kit or would the car look better with just some chrome T bars? We wanted to keep the bumpers to mount the driving lights, but I since put halogen globes in the headlights. I like the car with the valance bare.

Those seats turned out sweet.

That damn syncronicity again, someone asked yesterday on thesamba about Tbars and I still have my old ones sitting in my scrap metal pile I found this morn.

You're welcome to have them if you want to see how yours looks, they are only going to scrap.

I personally don't think Supers look right with Tbars but some may like it

The car looks great and my next comment means no offence just a tip for others when they are getting a respray done.
Take off all the items that are not meant to be sprayed.
Such as on Marilyn's beetle:
-the bonnet catch is one that after it has been sprayed and used, starts to look tatty.
-the compliance plate.
-the windsreen wiper nuts and washers, easily removed still with the mechanism in place
-the washer jet
-the bootlid rubber stopper and grommets

All these items are easy to clean and/or replace with new and make the car stand out when scrutinised.

Like I said, it looks great and it is constructive criticism only.
cheers

Thanks. I'll get the detail work done as the budget (and CFO ie wife) permits. The re-spray started just to get the car into a suitable long term roadworthy state as a daily driver. It did start to take on a life and expense of its own as time went on. She's not meant as a show car but something that we can slowly improve on over time. Basically its about the fun of owning a piece of auto history I'm passionate about.
Thanks for the tips. I know its all in the detail.
Finally just like to say it was still great to park among a whole lot of nice cars at the Gold Coast.
