Wedge ports are your heads opened up, so rework what you have or buy bigger heads and have a spare set for a rainy day

Great job on the oil cooler, that's veedubber ingenuity for you
I think wedge ports would help for sure, the other thing to consider is the FK89 is designed to work with 1.4 or 1.5 rockers, so changing your rockers
will make a difference however it'd be harder on the valve train and you'd have to check valve to piston clearance and coil bind.
You could try retarding the cam a couple of degrees with the 1.25's, that might make the cam work more like an FK89.

What about CNC Ported Street Eliminator - 46 x 38, are these also the same as the normal 044's? Or are they any better

I have the new street elims ported by Darren "Kroc" from Canada.they flow more then the Cnc range s/e"s and the std wedgies with smaller ports.just
another option.
I'm sure dangerous could chime in About krocs work

They are just a little more expensive than the 044's.... so I am open to suggestions.

I prefer the castings of the street and comp eliminators as they have more 'meat' in them..........I would be concerned with the lifespan of the
wedgeports under race conditions.
I would look at the CNC eliminators or the comp eliminators over the wedgeports for circuit racing. You will hear people say the eliminators run
hotter, but that hasn't been my experience with them.

Totally agree with Craig.
For circuit racing comp elims as your rpm will allways be above 4500 rpm.
My 20 plus year old street elims did 15k before car was made into race only and they never got hot.
We have taken over a fin of them to raise comp, still plenty of meat on them.

PS 1 5/8 exhaust is plenty, will support over 7300rpm without restricting.

Ok, I received a reply from Pat Downs
"The best head in my opinion is the 044 Super pro with upgraded VW650 valve springs and titanium retainers. This head will have a 7800-8000 rpm rev
potential. I have built engines with this head and the cam you are using that produce 240 H-P and 190 ft lbs of torque on a 2332cc engine. Your engine
is smaller but still should produce 220 h-p with this head and your engine components. "
