push rod length query
I have a tech question..... after building up the long block (rotates nice and smooth, no bad noises) I went to assemble the rockers and push rods. I
am using standard rockers (Scat swivel feet) a C35 cam and standard lifters (all Scat), when I install my rods (Scat CroMo 11.050) then try to nip
them up to the heads there is about a 12mm gap between the rocker and the seat of the cylinder head. I have made sure all the lifters are pushed
inwards and rotated the engine on all TDC cylinders and they still don't fit.
I will say that I bought the full Scat engine kit , so I figured everything in the kit would be compatible but it seems the rods are too long for the
rocker and cam assembly. Shouldn't it be standard length push rods ?.
thanks in advance ......... Binner

With any modified engine the push rods have to be made the correct length to suit, measure the total lift at the valve and at half lift the adjusting
screw for the tappet should be in a direct line with the valve stem, you vary the length of the adjustable push rod and the shims under the post to
achive this, you will then end up with the correct push rod length to suit your engine, use this as a template to assemble the set.

^^^ cool, I kinda figured that I will be making rods to suit. I figured if you buy a complete kit the correct rod length would be included or maybe
they should include adjustable rods in a kit instead of standard lengths.

There are plenty of proceddures available to set it up correctly, that's why most push rods are cut to length.
