cleaning the oil bath gauze
Hey people , just wandering is there a way of cleaning the oil bath filters(gauze), or a way to replace them?
I've looked everywhere, and can't find info.

Thanx for that , it's been puzzling me the whole week. I know its restricting the air and causing the plugs to fail, well that's my conclusion, and
i was certain i could pop off the top and replace the gauze in it, but couldn't fina a way.

What I do to clean the gauze is to spray a fair bit of WD40 and soak it in a petrol bath. Then rinse out the gunk and repeat if necessary.

Mine have never looked dirty or clogged up.. even in the 70s
but have seen pics of them full of dust...
and can't remember seeing any info on how to clean them..
something probably everyone of them needs doing..
LEE
check on ebay for owners/operators workshop manuals for Your beetle... The bentley [VW of USA] manuals are best..

Gregory's and scientific publication are to different book publishers. or have they merged now?
I have both read Gregory's and scientific, similar but different books.
