My L Bug project
I think I've finaly worked out how to drive these computer things enough to post some pics of my latest project.I brought it for $500 and started
work on it Dec 01. I managed to get it back on the road in June 02.

My L Bug project
I have jumped ahead a bit now as I havn"t developed all the films as yet.(Had to spend money on the Bug!)I cut out a lot of rust and welded steel
back in.The dash pod was the worst,I had to remove Half the dash and fabricate it all by hand. The pass side rear vent was next,Had to cut into the
roof to fix all this up.I then welded up the Eghaust holes, chrome strip holes, arial hole and L/H drive wiper holes.I put the boddy back on and sent it
in to the painter.

Coming along nicely. Pan looks great. Up until today I had not seen the pan off a super beetle. Little different from the ones I'm used to.:thumb

He streightened all my doodgy welding and any dents then he painted it in a euro base two pack. It's a Ford colour with a few adjustments. It seems
to change colour, depending on the light. Here it is in the flat base.

My L Bug project
This is it all painted and back home.I had all the windows tinted while they were out and damaged one puting it back in so i had to redo it.These are
the last pics I have at the moment.I still have the trim to finish off.The new carpet is in and my mum helped stitch up a new head lining copying off
the original.(I don't realy want to do that part again but it came up ok)The rear wheels have been widened and fitted with new 195 tyres,The
front will be done when finances improve and once I work out what to do as I can't go out as L Bugs have different struts.I recon I'll have
to go in with them. The motor Is a Murfit motor(1600 twin port, standard crank ground to suit Holden conrods,Bored and shortened barrels, wild
cam"too wild",He says it should be @1800cc.It has Cadrons and a 009.)It goes nicely thanks very much.I use it every day for all my
transport. There are still a few things to sort out, but I don,t think one will ever sit back and say all finished!

I wish, It took me about seven months
(Dec-June) I still have a bit to do but it will take a while as the Bug is allways being used. Lack of cash slows you down a bit
also.

I once did (out of necessity) a 57 baja body in 6 weeks with my father (whilst working full time too).
About the front struts - What I have seen done is the front struts replaced with modified golf struts and smaller diameter springs. This gave enough
room on the car I was looking at to fit 215 / 17's on it.
Very nice and very clean / smooth looking car mate.

Thanks for the good comments Doug.I like the sound of those golf struts,I've also seen fully adjustable after market ones with slimer springs but
they are way too expensive.I would like to do somthing though as I still can't get it to handle like the 71 super Bug I had before the L.I have
done all the same mods but I can't get it right.
