What Is This Part? (Pics)
I am currently going through all my parts for my 71 Beetle restoration and buying new of anything I can from cip1. I am stumped on this part though.
There are two of them. Some kind of channel
There is no part number on the piece.
At first I thought it was this but it's not:

I could be wrong but i believe they are your door window wind up glass tracks that bolt in to the rear of the doors that the glass slides up and down
in with a bailey rubber .

Be aware though, if its something like that, and its intact, but only dirty/old/grubby, your better off cleaning it up and repainting then buying a
replacement.
The aftermarket parts out there are shocking and in most cases be no where near the same quality oem can provide. Its often the case that
reconditioned oem out-performs aftermarket replacement. Things like paint quality, steel quality and even steel thickness, the aftermarket chinese
manufacturers skimp out on quality more often than not.

Also price up a few of the UK suppliers as exchange rate is good n shipping is cheaper than from USA

yes, its a bailey channel for the window to slide up & down although cannot remember seeing one with those bits hanging off it..
I agree.. check out parts from the UK..
they do seem to have a great selection of good well made parts over there, although I always think they are very expensive...
when compared to parts from the USA
BUT many replacement parts are now made in China which aren't well made and don't fit as well..
Brasillian made parts should fit better but the quality isn't there either.. the steel is always thinner..
and don't mention window scrapers... lol
many parts resellers are now selling whatever they can buy..
so, beware...
as said, many genuine parts [if in good condition] are better being re-used if possible.. naturally that isn't the case if the parts are badly
rusted..
I noticed years ago that CIP1 used to say where the parts were made, and many times You would have the choice of European - sometimes Genuine German
VW- - Brasillian - VW do Brasil - Taiwan - China & USA made items.. at different prices.
Their USA made stuff was very good.. but its probably too costly now to make parts in the USA..??
so, it looks like its a lottery again...

bit's hanging off it is a guard for the door latch and is only on 69-72 doors.
