Just got under the car again looks like I might
have a 6 volt tranny with the bellhousing ground
out to fit 12 v flywheel. Would I simply be able
to fit a 12v nose cone to it, and would that have
the treaded hole for the reverse light switch.

Save yourself the hassle of pulling your engine and gearbox and try and locate one of these Hella switches that works off the speedo cable activated when the cable twists the opposite way in reverse:-

Thanks steve have found a couple of them on the samba ($75) also found another way by attaching a bracket to the shift rod near the coupling and mounting switch under the seat ( would have to be under the car for a type 3). This would engage as soon as reverse is selected not after I am already reversing. My reason for concern is i almost got hit while reversing the other day and if the lights don't come on until I'm moving it may already be too late.

You can fit the stock one in the nose cone if you have a hex head plug on it

if not u can pull the box n fit a later model nose cone and the stock switch I did this on my 40hp 65 gearbox works great

I had the hella accessory as per above for a few years but the switch in the nose cone works best

dont like the switch on the tunnel

I have been given this today the part number is 113 301 211 H. It looks to have the same bolt pattern but am worried that it may be different internally or the hockey stick. The nose that is on my gearbox is part number 131 301 211 then under that it has vw 25.

vw54 why do you not like the one on the tunnel. Seems fairly simple and effective to me.
