Power Pulley???
Hi Guys;
Seeing that I've got a weeeee 1300 I wanted to waste as little HP as possible; so was considering getting a power pulley.
I know the EMPI variety all require a sand seal that either machines in or bolts into the front of the case; I don't like the sound of this so was
looking at some other pulleys.
The ones below have a steel hub and grooves like the stock pulley. Do these pulleys need a sand seal or any changes to the case? I.e. do they install
like a stock crank pulley?
The other cooler option is the 356 pulley (see link to Flat4 Japan... you'll need google translate). I'm not sure how big these pulleys are
though

the sand seal on the empi pulley pushes in......it doesn't need bolts or mods to the case.

But a sand seal is a weaker pulley. Most aftermarket have incorrect dimensions on the crankshaft ie loose fit that can wreck cranks. Go steel hub JC
or Berg IMO

What does changing the pulley size actually do? More hp or better response, something like that?

It slows down the fan so that when the engine is rev'd your fan is still cooling efficiently; its ideal for motors that sit above 4000rpm most of the
time. Your basically not wasting power on turning a fan more than you need to.
Alot of vee guys run their fan belts loose to waster as little hp because their rules don't allow power pulleys.

Had a look at the pulley Craig; seems a little small for a roundy roundy car; the other power pulleys are 5.7in from what I can gather

Power pulley sized achiever for you Sean..... But I would go to dog house cooler if so
I run both achiever on the stocka and equalizer on the hotty.... Both stock size
Don't expect to be able to swap out at the track, they are a tight fit and don't come off without pullers

I've used a Berg pullley in the past, great quality however super tight fit, as said above you'll need a puller to remover.
I've got a Scat alloy power pulley that I use and it's a good fit, about the same as a std pulley, I got it from Aircooled.net.
