wheel spats...advise please.


gday homeviewers.just wanted to ask about spats for my early beetle.ive always liked the look, but im wondering are there any bad points about having them on my car?.are there crap ones that i should be avoiding?and does any one here make em or have some to sell?what do they sell for?...so many questions.i dont want to find out the hard way$$$$.thanks in advance for your opinions..peace.stink.:?:

i have a period patina'd set on my 54..
i like em n they are different..
erm, good luck finding some as i don't know of any about..

Sh-t back in the 60's we hated servicing a car with those little buggers we threw a lot of them in the dam when we were detailing the used cars,very few of them made the used car lot.:blush:

My 2cents having never had them - worth any stuff around they may cause as they look shit hot!

thanks bones.there the right shaped wheel opening,but a slight protruding lip would finish em nicely at the wheel opening. have you seen that smick looking grey beetle ute,with the 17 inch fuch type wheels.that has some nice ones on it .ive been told those type may be glass one that classic sell.possibly american?

The dude looks pretty oldschool/talented, I'm sure if you were that desperate he could modify them however you want hey... It would cost you more but I imagine you would be looking at $400-$500 for originals anyway.

well just did a bit more sniffin around ..and for anyone interested,i have found the most beautiful lookin fibreglass spats ive ever seen! check out the american FOXCRAFT replicas avail .as the genuine steel ones go for BIG bucks.IVE GOTTA HAVE THESE!!!there reasonably priced at well under 200 clams. a big thanks to the fella who offered me some bargain aussie steel ones.at a good price too.much thanks,but im gonna try for these.cheers.:)
