Speaker Static/Feedback
Afternoon,
I recently had a system installed by a professional.
Upon driving home I found that there was a static/feedback noise that was more audible with higher revs.
I did some looking around on the net and for the most part the response was its an inadequate earth. I was going to rectify this myself but didnt want
to void any warrenty I may have had.
So I called the tech back and he has said that its actually the generator in the bug and that the only way to rectify it is to get a suppressor for
the generator or go to an altinator.
Is this correct? Or should I just check the earths/move them and see if it imporves?

I would check the ground cables first. Check the negative terminal is clean and tight and that you sand back paint under any lugs that bolt to the car
for the stereo ground. Thats worked for me in the past. If its a real big system you may want to look into a bigger ground cable from the negative
terminal to the chassis.

I have a genny n have have no noise.. pfft professionals rubbish
as per above n make sure the power wire is separate to the other wire ps like speakers etc
if it is isolated it will reduce interference

Also check your point gap, back in the day when I had a car with points it would static when the points started to close up

Will Do!
Will clean and sand the earth first, check thats ok, then if that fails I'll check the points. The suppressor will be last point of call.

The suppressor/noise filters on the earth are fairly cheap too. Not a big issue to fit

69' baja: kombi box, thing spindles, irs, disc front, type 3 rear drums, 2 inch lift kit, 31x10 rears.
New engine in process: 94mm p&bs, 74mm C/w chomol Crank, 35.5x39 SP heads, turbo. Wierd combo, hopeful torque monsta!
