1776cc with 44IDF's

Hi There,
I have never used Webbers before but here go's.
1776 with 10:1 comp 130 cam. They are 44IDF's
Question is what air, idles and mains should be in the ball park to get this going?
Just going to have a look at the size of the vents now

Thanks
Frosty

Can't help with the jets bus, but I hope you have a decent valve train and some nice heads to support that 130 you are running. Sounds like an interesting motor.

There are a bunch of guys on here that will give you some ideas about the jets.

What's in 'em at the moment Frosty ???

Vents are the most exxy to change, so usually base everything off of them as a starting point...

It has 36 vents
60 idle
Air correction 180
Emulsion f11
Mains 140

Will the 36 vents change the numbers by much? They need a good clean too.

Vents will change the mains

Vents x 4,2 = mains

The bigger the vent the higher the rev range for power

Craig's numbers are good

It's my 1776 in the drag car, I was running 40dells. It was the first start up yesterday and it didn't want to idle or rev. Could also be the distributor it hasn't run for a long time. Timing is spot on fuel is all ok. I'll have another go today and post the progress.

Ok with a lot of dicking round, it idles but that's it! as I open the butterflies about1/8 of the way it dies straight away. I have adjusted in and out the accelerator pump volume and got it to start increasing in revs but that's it. It will not run at all with the butterflies open.
The fuel pressure is at 3psi
I have also swapped out the coil distributor for others. I have the shits now and feel like setting it on fire and pushing the heap of shit out on the street!!!!
The dells were just a bit small too Marcus, ( I got rid of 13sec dells and got 14sec Webers go figure)

Hey Ian, I have had them totally apart and cleaned them, new fuel and all fuel lines. There is a nice stream out of the pump jet too.
If I start it with the throttle fully open should it run?

And Dave these have been very well looked after too, no your not going to get them back.

All mixture screws responding properly? What idle speed and when exactly does it die if you slowly open the throttles, ie how far in mm from the idle stop screw?

It's about 7-8mm from the stop that it dies. And the fuel smells a bit unburnt from the idle.
I'll pick up some new plugs and leads tomorrow for round 3.

buy a can of carby clean and straw and spray in jets and jet holes in carby to make sure not block, you could pop linkages off and try reving one carby at a time . you also may of adjust acc pump lever wrong as it maybe not getting a full stroke/pump

When they are apart check the float/fuel level is correct.

Also make sure that the venturi and aux vent is not in backward or upside down,
possibly blocking off the main jet passage.

I have seen a venturi upsidedown in another brand of carb
and it did as you explain.
It was not blocking the passage,
but was not giving enough signal for the mains to work effectively.

Assume you cleaned and checked the jet stacks too Frosty ???

I remember Mick used to run 'em without air cleaners, and have seen jetstacks before with crud and even small rocks down the emulsion tubes, which messed up the signal to the main pretty severely...
