Why not plain EFI? then you can log as well plus tune on the go as well as from the logs.

We run racepac data logers you can get them from haltec. best part is you can start out with just a few channels and upgrade as you want to log different things without having to upgrade the logger. They are pretty reasonable on price as well

That thingy in my buggy is an LM2 Ben, I honestly wouldn't recommend it, I just happen to have it so I'm trying to make it work. It gives an ok live AFR reading but logging is terrible. I had an o2 unit from these guys after problems with an Innovate in my last car and I think they do data logging units as well, might be worth a look. http://www.wbo2.com  Based in Canberra so give them a call and see what they suggest.

I currently only log ignition information with my MSD Power Grid.
I tried the LM1 with methanol but it's software would go into error when a rich mixture (even on petrol,)
or anytime it wanted on methanol,
due to the temperature of the sensor being outside its accurate parameters.(cold)

This meant that it needed to be re-set each time and so i gave it to Aaron and he loves it for his rotors.

I am saving up at the moment for the Aussie WBo2 since it is what my dyno guy uses and it is great!

maybe its heater was faulty?

I am personally looking at the LC-1 or maybe if I feel cheap the 14point7 WB with integrated controller.

A/F
MAP
head temp
MAT
Throttle position
and if possible knock counts
EGT is a valuable one too

hope that helps

I plan to log A/F and RPM.
Fuel pressure and oil pressure are also valuable tools.
If you log too much stuff you wont make the next round of racing trying to sort data!
Exh temps is a good tool, but not gospel when it comes to tuning except to even up each cylinder.

map = manifold absolute pressure so you can map your A/F against it.
egt= exhaust gas temp, just useful as a means of checking that you are not over the threshold of damaging your engine.

question, what can you actually do with MFI?

In my car we log 4 EGT'S, RPM, Oil pressure, Volts and Boost. Later I would like to include fuel pressure and clutch slip.

Ben This pic shows the basic channels available in the sportsman Logger Shane has been running and i have just put into mine.

http://i797.photobucket.com/albums/yy257/letterartsigns/RacePakSportsmanDataloggerlayout_zpsf08a232c.jpg

They come with 2 free channels to log things like fuel pressure.

Just make sure you dont install them near anything like a MSD. They get interupted and stop logging when they are too close.

We will be using the Driveshaft censor to monitor clutch slip.

They are very expandable to add chanels down the track. Let us know if you need any other info.

Drag car - A/F, RPM, EGT for the engine and I'd think speed too might make sense for looking at launches ???

Roundy roundy car the load isn't constant, so having MAP or TPS (throttle pos) is a help... esp for spotting issues caused by the organic component... low corner speed, lazy throttle, early braking etc

;)

I believe Racepack do a fiber optic cable option to eliminate interference.
Michael Nash has one in his car, (racepack with fiber optic cables)
and despite being 10 year old technology it is an excellent unit,
just a little pricey in comparison these days.

I use the Race technology Dl1 logger with Dash2 display.

The logger is equipped with a internal accelarometer and GPS. 8 External analogue inputs and 4 Frequency. All the inputs can be shown on the dash as well with high/low warnings. Right now I use:
Engine oil temp
Engine bay temp
Wideband AFR from the Innovate mtx-l analogue output
Engine oil pressure
Voltage

With the new turbo setup we will be adding:
CHT
TPS
Steering angle
