Indicator wont "Auto-Off"
As title states, when I finish my turn the indicator wont switch off automatically.
Can I fix this or have I broken it beyond repair?

There is a little tab on the indicator housing that has probably broken off. You have to take off the steering wheel and then take out the indicator
switch to see it to be sure but I would be willing to bet that is the problem.

take the steering wheel off and You will see the spring clip etc
I hear of a lot of people replacing their blinker switches so maybe this is what breaks???

Sorry, It's a 64 beelte. Will Have a look on the weekend and advise. I did hear a large click from it the other night though When I held the
indicator on when it tried to turn itself off so that may have done it.

It's a novelty when I get a VW which has an indicator that still cancels out. I've just gotten used to turning it off myself also. Just one of the
quirks of old cars and things that stop working.

OK, looks like i have stumbled across the problem. Upon dricing to work today the indicator switch decided it didnt like its current position, and
started hanging freely.
Got to work and realised the grub screw holding it in place had loosed. Held the indicator unit close to the steering wheel where it should be, and it
"Auto-offed" when I turned the wheel.
So it was just a loose grub. Lucky me

I spoke too soon
I got home and tried to tighten the grub screw on the side of the indicator assembly. Nothing happened.
So I removed the grub screw thinking there may be a hole or something in the steering column that it needed to thread into.
When I removed the screw a backing plate fell out, and the screw appeared to be broken at the bottom (pictured below)
What do I do now? how do I secure the assembly in place?

Remove the switch assembly, put the screw back in, fit the tab and try and peen the end of the screw to keep the tab in place. Looks to me to be a
replacement switch as the cad plated screw is normally zinc plated on an og unit.
