15 window splitty ej20

ive been looking around for a while now and cant find the following answers to my questions so i thought i might post some and see if i can grab a and in regards to putting a subi in my bus thanks!!

* im looking at putting in a auto or at least a semi auto trans is there anything that would been to be modified to do this ?

* is it a simple case of just mounting a ej20 engine in there with the flywheel adapter etc on it then just working out the cooling , fuel and wiring looms ?

* dose the ecu have to be modified in anyway once it has been installed , i realise the wiring loom has to be modified tho
* is there a wiring diagram for the first time Subaru conversion guys like me ?
* i realise this is a long shot but is there any step by step guides for doing the conversion

ive looked into fellows speed shop and they sell a complete diy kit but seems a bit pricey is there any cheaper sites out there ?
thanks heaps

Why an ej20 and why an auto?

You have lots of research ahead of you and if you look through this section of the Non VW Engine Conversion you will find it all here.

It looks like you've got a long and expensive road ahead with getting your bus structurally sound and safe before you go anywhere near the path of a Subaru conversion. Best of luck with your restoration.

Even an N/A EJ20 would eventually kill a semi-auto box if you could even get flex plate and 2 stage oil pump for the ATF sorted.

Your best bet is to convert to IRS and fit a Bay window auto.

I always thought why bother too till I had a spin in a mates EJ22 bay window Auto.
That thing is an absolute pleasure to drive in Gold Coast traffic.
Hard to believe a 40 year old Auto can be smoother than the crap in the Falcodoores running around.

Only problem is the gearing, his was screaming its nuts off at 100km/h and getting woeful mileage.
Swapping to 16" Merc Vito rims with big tyres made a huge difference.

Todd May chime in, I'm sure he is working on making the Subi auto reversable so it can be fitted to our dubs.

Yep I have a 4 speed Subie reversed auto prototype done. However. I am waiting on 1 special part to be manufactured for me in order to fit it and then fit the auto to a test car. I have been waiting 14 months for this 1 part.

I`m sure ifwhen I get it we`ll change the world.....

Jacob an auto subaru would be a very nice driver.
But unfortunately I have to agree I recon you are a couple of years away at best from those decisions.
My 15 has taken 5 years and i didnt have any rust to deal with.
