New Parachutes

I am in the process of doing a deal with Stroud Saftey on some VW drag racing parachutes . This deal will include the purpose built VW parachute , pilot chute with spring , bag , release cable , release handle , instructions and all necessary hardware . I will not order the universal pack mount as these do not work on a VW beetle so mounting the pack will be your responsibility . Stroud are the only company that make a specific parachute for a VW and I have been using these for the past 15 years . They are available in the following colours ;
Black
Red
Blue
Purple
Yellow
Hot pink
Orange
White
The cost should be around the $ 480 -$ 500 mark landed in Australia and I will require a $ 50% deposit upon your order within the next 2 weeks . I will pick them up in 2 weeks time and they will make my next container that will land on the 3rd week of July , ROD ,02-42729920 .

Mph vs weight is how you work what chute you need.
How are these one just for vw's rod.
Don't take it the wrong way. But I have never seen anything just for a vw.
A link would be cool ,if you have.
Cheers

Correct me if I'm wrong but they are different to the regular 400 stroud chute, mainly being designed for a softer hit when opening.

Here's some UAC info, I don't think they list them in the regular stroud catalogue.

They added holes to allow more air to pass through the chute, makes for a softer deployment. I think on John Toomeys dragster the lines were longer also . Mike McCarthy

Is it really worth getting chutes from the US , when we can get a 12ft Deist chute here in Australia for $350 and a complete 15ft long cable kit with lever for $110 ..... The chutes are rated to 180mph for light cars and 160mph for heavier cars , and come in
BLACK
BLUE
RED
PURPLE

Ben Ford uses one of these chutes on his Supercharged drag bug with great success and proven to keep the bug stable upon opening .....

I have 2 of these chutes in stock ( 1x RED 1x PURPLE ) also 1x cable release kit , and will be taking these to the VW Nationals . Wayne

Wayne , as always you seem to be misinformed as to the efficiency of the purpose made parachute for the VW beetle . The parachute made by Stroud has longer lines and vent holes designed into them for rear engined cars . I have used several different types of parachutes over the years and have found all other brands to be very harsh on deployment thus unsettling the car in the braking area . Remember I have personally tested these at over 160 MPH as you may not be aware of this. I know that all of your cars are not going this fast so the Deist may suit your application, however if you ever require a specialised chute when your speeds increase I would highly recommend the stroud, as would other notable fast racers in the US. As a previous poster has already pointed out these are not in the regular stroud catalogue. If you wish to sell your own parachutes, please advertise them on your own post . ROD .

As much as I don't want to get involved in this crazy feud, I cannot help feeling Rod is right about advertising in another person's post.

With my drum brakes, I don't need a parachute........just a good supply of Reg Grundies.:smirk:

I'd rather wear a Beetle out by racing it than by polishing it!
