Saying goodbye to an old friend

I posted that I had retired from racing earlier this year and now my trusty race car has sold. The car is going to a friend so I will still see it when I attend the races and I am happy for him that he is getting a safe and great first race car. Here a couple vids of some of the last races I ran with it , damn that was fun!!!
One of the first passes,

Thanks guys for the wonderful comments . Like everyone on here that has raced , you invest alot of yourself in these cars , sometimes the car pays you back by doing what you asked it to do .
I have purchased another " STREET " car that will be fitted with all my left over parts , so I will still have a VW toy but this one I can drive on the street . My " brother from another mother " John Toomey and our wives will be taking our cars to shows and cruises down to the coast and will probably race them some . When I get some things done I will post them on the build . Thanks to all my friends at AVD, Mike McCarthy

I never thought you'd go through with the sale Mike... Enjoy your 'retirement' from racing... I'm sure you'll have a blast in the pit for a very long time to come!

FUCH your early!

That's a damn nice "street car" Mike...should go to some lengths to soften the blow of losing your car. Good luck with the next adventure.

Thanks , I am ordering parts as fast as my finances allow and waiting like everyone else for them to send the parts out. My son Brian came over today and we were looking at the case on the backup engine , I showed him " Dangerous Daves " thrust conversion and I think we are going to do something like it to the flange crank I have. I donated the tires and wheels from the new car to his 67 beetle project , the guy was so choked up and thankful it made me proud to know I helped raise him . Hopefully I plan to have the car on the road quickly , I suspect before " DRAGNITE 2013 " so that we can cruise with it and maybe even join in with the guys from ASA or Pro Mod from ECPRA for the race. I am using the engine and Transmission from my race car in the new car just like I always planned. Anyways I have alot going on. I need a Quaffe or LSD for the tranny in case anyone has one , just do not feel safe with a spool on the street. Mike McCarthy

 LOL !!!!!!!!!!!!!! The last time I said absolutely to somthing I was absolutely WRONG . Does having 366 rwhp on a street car make it a race car ? hahahahah I truely am going to drive this on the street and I am sure I will race a few times a year just to test my heart for weakness , can't think of too many places I'd rather have a heart attack that I can post on here. LOL Mike
