Trailers
All, I am researching trailers for the new car. I need the trailer to be shorter than 5.5m overall. Was thinking single axle with the axles closer to
the back of the trailer.
What do you have? (Pics would be great)
Where did you get it?
Do you like it? How easy to get the car off and on, getting in and out of the car once it is on the trailer etc.....
If I can find someone that works I will buy it otherwise I will make my own.

Mine is a single axle with a 3m deck and a 1.5m drawbar. front wheels sit right up the front of the deck and rears sit just behind the trailer axle.
The car overhangs at the rear a bit. I could have put an extra meter on the back(just incase someone hits me)It is balanced well and tows really good.
3m ramps that slide up under the car make it easy to load.
Just dont do this!!!!!

Here's some old pics of the one I built.... I rebuilt an old trailer, extended it slightly, but the total length is similar to Ben's.... Mine is a
broken back design with a 2100mm draw bar and 1800 long ramps..... The cable braked axle sits right under the 'B' pillar of the car and the balance
is perfect with 70kg on the tow ball... The total trailer weight is just under 350kg.

The best open trailer I ever owned was the one I hauled with my Oldsmobile Toranado . It was a very light 4 wheel that was very low and built so it
did not need ramps to load/unload the car. It did not use axles but instead used rear spindle and hub assemblies from the rear of a VW Rabbit bolted
into a box frame . The stock bearings never gave a problem and were cheap . It used the Rabbit wheels and tires also ,I liked it because tires were
cheap and had 4 tires in case of a flat . The trailer was so light that I never needed brakes on it on a panic stop and yet towed well. If I can find
some pics I will post them. Mike McCarthy
