Wanted

I am after a new home for my drag buggy . Owen is a bit busy with his uni degree and will no longer be able to spare the time necessary to run the car . Remember you don't have to be a part of a team to go racing , you just need to have fun . I will assist in every way I can to keep this on the track . Please forward me your interest in this free deal , ROD.

It's a really fun car to drive and goes nice and straight as well. I'd love to keep running it but I've got enough on my plate. If any interested parties need a trailer for it Ill probably be selling mine. Another bonus is it's tiny so doesn't take up much garage space. Also I'm 6'3 tall and just fit but anyone under that will be fine. Feel free to come over for a trial fitting lol

Thanks to all that have inquired about the buggy . I have had some good interest and now here are the finer details that I need to know about the potential new owners ;
Firstly , you will need a garage to keep it in , preferably a secure garage .
You will need a trailer to transport the buggy to and from the track .
You will obviously need a tow car .
Not necessary , but a little mechanical knowledge would help if you are at the track without me and you sustain a problem .
A desire to go racing , be it new or previous drag racing experience .
Hopefully a couple of good mates that want to go to the track to help you out .
You will also need to purchase an ANDRA super street licence that is about $ 140 per year . I would like to see the buggy raced at all of the VW events at least and join in the fun of a full weekend away . The buggy has a current log book and will be ready to race. The engine is out for a freshen up and is almost ready to be reinstalled and tuned . Craig and Owen have both run 12.1 seconds at 107 mph and now with a little extra hp it may go 11.8 seconds . The buggy weighs in @ about 625 kg's and is currently set up for a driver around 187cm and 85-90 kg's . Please let me know if you can complete all of these conditions and I will let the new owners know real soon , thanks ROD.

Hi Rod,

this is a very generous offer of yours and there will be some lucky guys out there that are going to get into drag racing very, very cheaply :yes::yes::yes::yes:

If you are thinking about promoting your business and any of your EFI/Turbo stuff and want a representative, say maybe someone with a bright orange Beetle, I think I know someone. And NO, it's not Birchall :lol::lol::lol::lol:

All the best with your search, it shows how keen you are to keep the VW appearances up. I'm sure there will be lots lining up out there to try and take up your offer. Although finding someone that is already 187cm may reduce your options

There are ways around that...

http://news.google.com/newspapers?nid=1290&dat=19940713&id=mlRUAAAAIB...

But on a more serious note that's my height and I just fit with some modification (to the car that is). Anyone shorter is fine.

Hi Rod , I tick all the boxes for sure
I have just finished my 9x 7 shed and have a car hoist on the way
I also have a history in offroad racing go cart racing and have a Family full
of vw freaks .
I have a Meyers Manx on the road at the moment ( This is the love of my life ) and a spare manx on the shelf up at the old mans shed
that I was planning on turning into a drag car.
Due to a divorce these are the only things I have left from 20 years of working
But hey it puts a smile on my face every time I drive it
It would be a dream come true and an honour to keep the buggy racing
I will ring you tomorrow

Well almost , I have a new home for the buggy so I would like to thank all of the people that expressed some interest . I will be looking forward to seeing the new owners run it @ Warwick this year and hopefully having a ball . They should take delivery this weekend if I can get the new engine dyno'd in time , ROD.
