in my opinion Rose , you are far better off with the bellmouth intake on the Holley carb rather than the air filter in the pics . Wayne

The actual 'screen' you have in the big ram will be restrictive compared with the K&N,
but ideally you need "undisturbed" air.

Try both to see which is best, but I am not a fan of rock catchers.

You can get those big ram tubes WITH a K&N on top.

I ran mine without an air leaner for e bit, and it worked pretty well.... Then I put a dome shaped mesh on there, it ran really rich.... Then I put the funnel on and the tune became very stable and the engine made a lot more power.....

Dunno what sort of likelihood there would be of getting a rock in the intake way back there, but I do run the perforated mesh in mine that cam with the stack....

And it looks pretty cool too!

I really like air filters when you have room to run them , screens are my last resort . Here is something to look at for an enhancement of the air filter you already have,
http://www.knfilters.com/universal/X-stream.htm  . Just a suggestion, Mike McCarthy

so with the Velocity Stack and a round air filter plus the top K&N cover , I should have the best of both worlds .????

LOL , choosing your air filter assembly for your engine is purely a personal choice , I just want one that filters air . This is the one I chose , mainly because it was big enough to not cause an air restriction and yet fit below my wing,

Would it be a good choice for your car, probably not but I liked it and it worked. Mike McCarthy
