felt channels which year to buy???

Okay so my felt channel on the beetle 'fell' out earlier letting me know that the never ending list of repairs is NOT over (front window) - does anyone know which year felt channels i need for an Aussie 67 - I normally have to buy 64 parts but the choice is 52-64 and 65 - ON - is it a length difference and if so anyone know the lengths then i can measure the fallen one ? -
... and does a new one push in or do i need clips and/or other indescribably fiddly bits that will take 5 hours and lots of swearing to install?

Help is much appreciated thanks you
Wend

Yes, the 1964 or earlier as in AUG 1964 the windows got larger in German factory made beetles.. [1965 VW year model]

The 1967 Australian Beetle was very similar as the 1962 German beetle.

the glass was larger on 65> German beetles, so I don't think the glass bailey channels would have the top corner in the correct place..

I would go for the 1964 ones Wendy...

cheers

LEE

its difficult to find good quality ones.. I have seen show cars with the top corner beginning to fray in less than 12 months...
Mine have lasted about 13 years but have always been under cover.. No idea of who made them etc.. but they are a light colour like the colour of canvas...
I would hate to have to do them again
lol.. LEE

Just read Your post again, it seems to be the vertical one called bailey channel by Mick Motors where I bought Mine years ago.
I don't believe a longer one would cause any problems..
From memory, they are held in by clips invented in 1933.. lol
I can only remember the right angle one....
CIP1 etc websites should show You what they look like..
Your clips may have rusted away..

cheers

LEE
