removing 66 beetle steering column
I want to take my steering column out so i can remove the body of my 66 beetle. Do i have to take the steering wheel off? -if so what else- i have
removed the petrol tank to undo the front bolts-=

Undo the flexible coupling at the steering box,the column should then slide up enough to lift the body.

If the couplers 2 bolts to the steering shaft coupling are removed then body should just lift straight up. If in doubt tho pull the steering wheel up
and use a mole grip on the steering shaft to keep it raised outta the way
madness is in the eye of the beholder

is it hard to completely remove the steering wheel and shaft because i am selling the body and keeping the parts?

No it isn't hard,undo the flange at the top of the coupling,release the wires for the horn and blinker switch undo the 2 bolts on the column bracket
and pull the column upwards and it will slip out of the rubber seal.
