Turning transmission shaft whilst coupling motor on install
Hi, just put the motor into the car.rotated the rear tire to engage transmission spline.it seems to be together , it's bolted together nicely.
My question is now that the transmission and motor are coupled and in gear , when I rotate the rear tyre shouldn't there be some engine rotation or
resistance on the rear wheel?the clutch cable has been tampered with previously ,when transmission mounting was replaced.
Can anyone explain to me if there is an issue?

Hi Peter,
I would think that the other wheel would turn the opposite way (if both off the ground). Not much resistance at all as the diff should spin
freelly.

Yes, the opposite wheel does rotate, but if I'm in gear?shouldnt the motor be attempting to turn also?
I will crawl under the car and check clutch cable and pedal free play tomorrow and try and sought it,

You wont get the engine to turn unless you put one of the wheels on the ground and then try to turn the wheel that is off the ground. Gearbox must be
in a gear, not neutral.
When both wheels are off the ground and you turn one wheel, the drive is transmitted through the differential and onto the opposite axle. This is due
to the design of a differential and what allows the two wheels to turn at different speeds.
