Anyone own a Amarok

Im thinking of buying a new Dual cab 4wd Amarok for work. Has anyone had any experience with these personally. What do you think? I have taken most of the dual cab 4wd's for a test drive and really like the feel of the Amarok.........

It will all be OK in the end, if it's not OK it's not the end!

Jump on the AusAmarok forum................the early ones had a few problems but they seem to be sorted now. My son is also buying a dual cab but only the 2wd model. They certainly drive a lot nicer than all the other utes.

My brother has one. He loves it. Always taking Toyota owners for a spin and utterly converting them.....aparently. :)

yea, getting a quote on a RS Toyota as well. They are already 5 star according to the rep. Also the Amarok is also 5 star unless you put a bullbar on it and then it goes back to 4 as VW have yet to have a bullbar approved. Crazy.

That's a pedestrian safety thing. Who cares?

I read it on samba, so it must be correct.

If Lou wants to use it on minesites it needs to be 5 star. BMA and other large miners are pahsing in the requirement for all vehilces to be 5 start by the end of 2014. The gas feilds are going the same way. Most new utes for the mines are rangers/BT50's etc.

Just conducted some whole-body vibration testing at a mine on an Amarok, Hilux and Ranger. The Amarok clearly had the most comfortable ride (least stress on the body), following by the Hilux and then the Ranger.
They did mention that the single turbo Amarok they trialled was to gutless to tow the pumps and lighting plants - no problem for the twin turbo. It will be interesting how they stand up to long term mine abuse - I hope well.
I must admit I think Toyotas are the most overrated vehicles - they do they job but are the most boring cars I've ever driven - would never own one. Only Toyota I would think of buying is the 86 which is a Subaru BRZ anyway.

thanks Karmann141, Satori, we seem to have hijacked your thread somewhat. Did you get any prices yet?

I got quoted $51k for the trendline TDI auto with towbar and hard canopy today. Waiting on another quote from Roma of all places. At this stage I am thinking about just getting the standard Amorak and hiring a car to get onto the mine / gas pipeline sites as it could be a cheaper option and it seems they all have different requirements and are constantly changing them. I can hire a lot of cars for $10-$15k that the mine spec will cost and it won't detract from the day to day look/use of the car around town which will be 80% of the time anyway.

Yeah im thinking of getting the base model Dualcab 4x4. $38,000 for the cab chassis and ill build my own tray for the it. I have a budget of $45000 so will have some money to play with to gear it our (larger wheels, front bar and spotties, towbar, sign writing). I drove both the Hiluxe SR5 and the Amarok this morning. My gut was saying the Hilux but my heart the Amarok. It just drives so dam good. I'd get blood bored in the hilux.

Spoke to a driller today and his company have a couple of amaroks out in the field and they are holding up well. The hire car companies out at roma have shitloads of them in their fleet so they must be tough enough at least.
