Ej22 fuel injectors ?
Was wondering how many km's do injectors last before they need replacing? Have a ej22 gen1 engine in bug with probably with over 300km's on it
which has a little surging under full song when its over about 4000 rpm . Surely a new set couldn't hurt! Anyone recommend a supplier?

Check fuel pump . That's kind og what it sould like to me. Also ignition breaking down under load is very likely if its not a fuel issue. I would
even check that first.
crappy injectors will make it run crap throughout the entire rpm range, even idle.
My personal experience with reco injectors =100% fail.
As far as i know some injectors types reco well some actually are damaged when reco.
what kind of injectors do suby take?
anyway check your ignition. leads, plugs, coil pack and power supply to the coil pack etc....
Leads should not be much over 5k ohm for old leads of that length.
The rules with EFI problems. Ignition 1st, fuel 2nd, EFI electronics last.

Also check the condition of the rubber hoses for the fuel pressure reg.
I've found several of those Gen1 engines with severly perished hoses after 20+ years that fit loosely on the pipes.
The injectors generally don't give problems if the filter has been changed regularly.

rule of thumb, if in doubt always do the cheapest things first.
I would try a few cans of Subaru top end cleaner and then put new spark plugs in it.

If the leads were the red ones they were probably original.
Most of the gen1 EJ22s I see around still have the original red leads.
The date is actually on them, one I;ve got in the shed still has original 1990 leads.

Learn something new everyday ! The fine print on the red leads says '1992'. Ignition leads that only last 21 or 22 years ! What a DISGRACE !

its nearly always leads or plugs with efi. Efi is generally more reliable long term that the ignition system.
induction leads should be changed every 100k or every 5 years as i have found unless its not driven at all.
