Need help to identify Squareback model
Hi all,
Just picked up a 1965 squareback and when checking out the distributor number, it appears that somebody has put in a 2L Kombi distributor, in what I
believe to be a 1500 Type 3!
The Chsasis number is 365 011 366
and the engine number 0322000
From what I can determine from the samba, it's a October 1965 Squreback.
However in various books and websites the information varies as to what model it is eg 1500A, 1500N, 1600, etc.
I want to work out what the correct distributor is for the car, so I can buy one ASAP and get rid of the Kombi dizzy!
Does anybody have a bentley that has this info in it? Or can help me determine the correct model / dizzy for those numbers?
Thanks!!

Hey I'm not too sure about the model info but I recently bought one of these for my Squareback and it's great!

Mine is a later model but you can also get a 6volt version that might do the trick.

thanks mate.
Looking to keep it stock at the moment, so might consider a Pertronix down the track.
Have one in the Kombi and I'm a fan... but only the points replacement. .
I like the idea of being able to swap back to points if the elec ignition dies.
Not your if you can do that with the Pertronix dizzy?
Forgot to mention, car has been converted to 12v.

The chassis number is more like an October 1964 build... Engine # should be in the 600,000's

Thanks dyno!
The engine, body and pan all seem to be from different cars!
Getting the dizzy sorted today which was seized and hopefully try to start her this weekend.
