Fitting louvres to a late notch
Hi all
Recently got a set of rear louvres for my 71 notch but cant fit them as there are what appears to be ventilation vents rear facing in the pillars that
stop them going straight up. Has anyone fitted a set of louvres to their notch and if so, how did you do it? Just paranoid about bending/kinking
them.
Cheers

Yeah..sorry - white venetian blind things - fit inside the back window not outside like the old black Aunger ones! Does your notch have the vents in
the rear pillars - if so, how did you get around it?

hmm? I never really thought about that. My (late) notch came with Venetian blinds, but they weren't fitted to the car. I never even tried. I just
flogged them as soon as I could.
I see what you mean, those vents stick out a considerable amount. I guess you could trim the planks? to suit.

Did you buy it from the guy who sells them on ebay? He is located in South Australia. He advertises that his fit all notch models from 62 -74

yes, got them as a birthday present but that's where they're from. Not keen on trimming them as thin metal and I'm pretty cackhanded! Just dont see
how can get around vents...does anyone have an early notch? do they have vents?

The Venetian doesn't affect the side vents , just poke the legs of the shade between the window rubber and the glass, earlier cars dont have the
internal vents and i would think that if you do have them they will be in active.

Thanks for the info re earlies no vents. Its just the vents are stopping the blinds going in - they make it too narrow so I'm bending the blinds to
try and get them past...very nice ride BTW.

G'day Docker,
I also own a 71 Notch and have bought the same venetians as you. I am restoring my Notch so I am not ready to fit it yet - can you let me know how it
goes as I suspect I will also be confronted with the same issue as you when it comes to fitting it.
Thanks
Brad

No worries Brad . Will try again this weekend but might have to pass them on as not keen to cut them or force them. Pity because I think they look
great.

Hi again Docker,
I emailed the guy about this.
Here's his advice:
When fitting the shades, always lay them flat, put the bottom slat in the left hand corner first, keeping the shade flat slide the right hand bottom
slat in position then lay the shade back toward glass, the vents shouldn't be in the way.
Let me know if it works!

nah, mine was period original one, 2 vertical bars, patina, unlike the modern 3 vertical bar type.

Hi - had a crack over the weekend, not much luck so I emailed the guy who makes them....really good response, good advice, even sent his mobile number
and offered to talk me through it! So will have another go and get back with the results.

So third time lucky - Brad the trick is to get the bottom feet right down into the rubbers. I used a hairdryer to heat them up (probably did two parts
of f all) then two screwdrivers to open out the gap and spoon handles to keep the gap as pushed the feet down (also had help from the wife).Fairly
easy once that's done!
Thanks to geta99 - the ebay link's above - great customer service for someone whos not a customer! Really nice product too.
