anyone had any experience with not reversing the manifold ,small car have a kit for this but wondering why everyone seems so keen to reverse the manifold,also who to go to for the harness mod its going into a 90 syncro ,have a 2003 liberty 2.5 and pulled the harness out yesterday,sooo much wire

I had my manifolds done locally, I did all the prep work and dropped them off to be welded. I'm putting an EJ 25 in my syncro and using the smallcar coolant pipe which used the standard coolant manifold.

so reversing the manifold really only makes the plumbing more direct or neater ,the stainless pipes from small car must run around the top of the engine and back down the side, anyone got a picture of this,also re the harness there's a guy on ebay doing harness's, luke from bayside motor garage moorabbin anybody used him or know his work

If it's the add I am thinking of, the picture is actually of my harness :D
. Go figure

Shame you are not looking for a EJ22 harness, I'm thinking of trading mine for an unmolested one and starting again.

Here are some quick shots in my engine bay, the brackets on the pipe don't really line up very well. Holes will need to be drilled and brackets bent/adjusted.

thanks, pipes look like they'll do the job and be neat,motor i've bought is out of a auto,so i'm after a flywheel,was given a old wrx flywheel with the engine ,don't know what year ,is this useable if not what is, using smallcar bellhousing.

Think you will need a NA flywheel, the turbo flywheels have a different height.

the one i have is 25 mm thick overall dia 315 mm machined face/ pressure plate face outside dia 290 mm by inside dia 145 mm recess looks about 12 mm any chance of checking the sizes against yours

Ring gear is in the same position relative to the mounting flange of the flywheel.

NA is on the left, turbo on the right.

Given that the SmallCar conversion has trouble with the over extension of the clutch slave cylinder, using a flywheel which make this worse is not ideal.

I have done mine myself. just had to strip everything of the engine and cut and shut the pipe and get it tig welded back together seem to work well. only cut around 1 1/2 inches out of the middle of manifold between last outlet and the end. and blocked the other end up where the 1/2 inch pipe comes out.

been awhile but have now fitted a 2003 2.5 using smallcar components and a non reversed manifold,up to the stage of running fuel lines and fitting the harness ,the subi motor has three lines, fuel in, fuel return and an evaporative line,wondering where the evap line goes,had my harness done by am auto and wondering which parts of the immobilizer i need to keep,also what coolant to put in always used the blue g11 in the vw motor

has a purge solenoid yeah? you will need a charcoal canister if thats the case.

depends on the canister. being old I seen more have a purge valve operated by a vac port on the TB just past idle.

Probably need a canister from a car that uses a solenoid.

basically they have 3 ports.

Evap/vapor= from the fuel tank vapor line

Air= just to atmosphere or better in to the air cleaner box to prevent dust ingestion.

Purge= to solenoid operated by the ECU. this is condensed liquid fuel.

Cleaned up the manifold a little today and gave it a pressure test. Started at 10 psi and finished with a max of 25 psi, no leaks.
