Roller pedal

Can anyone here tell me how the roller pedal is fitted that is for sale on the
"Buying, Selling & Swapping Parts " section

http://forums.aussieveedubbers.com/viewtopic.php?tid=106444

I have asked Brendan but he can't help and I think it may be what I'm after to make the accelerator pedal function better in the wench.
Thanks
Don

From memory the shaft had 2 flats on it similar to what is on the other end and a short threaded section, with a little bit of expertise you could modify your present rod that way or work out the required angle and weld the piece on to the shaft.I remember the foot jumping off the pedal on rough roads and cross country in our buggies so we fabricated a pedal on a hinge in front of the roller.

Thanks for that fellas ( and lady ) at the moment it has what looks like a roller skate wheel on the rod with a standard dub foot plate hinged on the floor with a curved plater riding on the wheel, I have managed to move the hinged foot plate over to the right a bit but now the curved plate rides right on the edge of the roller. The trouble is that the accelerator and the brake pedal are so close together that at times I get the stop pedal and the go pedal at the same time, makes for some exciting driving at times.

50s Beetles used an accelerator shaft that the Roller pedal mounted directly on. It was bent in a dog leg fashion with the end threaded to accpet the retaining nut for the Roller.

After that they went with a floor mounted pedal that used a rod to link the pedal to the shaft. This is the shaft with the flat end with the 5mm hole in it.

Then they used a small roller that ran in a sloped ramp on the rear of the latest designed accelerator pedal. Again the accelerator rod was dog leg shaped again but the dog leg was shorter and the small roller held on by a circlip.

Don't think the designed changed after that.

Yea, my bad. After I posted I remembered it was an armature that bolted to the accelerator rod and not doglegged. That was the later small rollers only. Tis what happens when you post just b4 bed. DOH!!!
