Anyone remember when SA rego plates went from R to S
I'm looking at getting a re released R plate for a couple of my pre 1971 cars. My first car, a 71 Corolla was RLR, my 74 Kingswood was SWX. Trying to
work out when the R plates finished and S plates began. I've got a couple of cars in the middle, 72-73.
Can anyone remember what year it happened?

About April 1974 I purchased a brand new Ford Escort. It was registered SA SNF-440
If that helps.
As a side note at the time Ford brought out Falcon vans and Escorts in a limited edition series. Some were fully decked out including mattress,
curtains, storage boxes stripes and spot lights called the Sundowner or Sunstar. Some Falcon vans had lift up roofs like kombi's.
I was 18yo. That mattress got a workout. Nah...I was not alone lol

I had a 75 Sandman replica in my early 20s Tweety. I have no idea what you could be talking about!
I reckon the change was mid 72 as there's an original 73 HQ on early S plates here.
