Headlights for a 72 Super?
Hi,
Anyone know the correct Hella part number for a replacement headlight lens to suit a 72 superbug? If not Hella brand something of equivalent quality.
Do they come with the park light mount?
Thanks

Hi Bushed,
I'm in Mackay Qld but I am looking to upgrade my lights to H4 bulbs & decent Hella lenses. Just need some advice on the correct lens to purchase.

Best off to just replace the headlights with the new style semi sealed units like this.
bolt straight in if your guards are original with the mounting tabs and can be fitted with uprated bulbs if needed

Already has replacement headlights, diamond type lens and I think H4 bulb (Haven't looked yet, new car) but they are worse than the standard ones I
recon. Might just be the bulbs but the diamond pattern looks wrong on a Bug and I want to replace with the best quality lens I can. Any recommendation
on AU supplier?

Most of the crystal lense lights are garbage made in China and India for looks rather than function.
Those ones in the link with the fluted lense look to be original Hella style and work really well.

They are for a T1 / Beetle 8/74-7/79. Do you think these will fit?The others on that site are for beetles 67-73. Are the beetle & superbug the
same headlight.
This is the problem I'm having, trying to know hat actually fits.

I personally know of about 10 people that have bought 'crystal' / 'diamond' type, and they have all thrown them in the bin

That is just so they match the OEM listing.
The semi sealed style headlights only started being used in 74 onwards Beetles.
the 68-73 used the crappy old 3 screw non sealed assymetrical headlights so they just list that for people wanting to be 100% stock correct.
As long as yours guards are the original German ones they will have the mounts in them for the later semi sealed type, they are often just bent over
flat.
even if they are missing (rusted off or repro guards) they are just simple brackets easy to fab.
