Remote Central Locking

Hi guys, I'm still new here and I couldn't find a thread on central locking, feel free to merge/delete this thread if there is already one. Anyway I installed an alarm system/remote central locking on my '75 Superbug and thought I'd share my how to video here in case it helps anyone.

I have since firmed up the motors, still without drilling!

Hey Timothy.

I have remote central and an alarm in my bug also, as well as electric windows.

Good explanation of the electrics.

Looking forward to comparing cars some day. I will have to try and get to some Qld shows this year.

Hi Jeff, good to hear some positive feedback, hopefully it helps someone in their installation. I really need to get to a car show, still haven't taken my bug to one! It would be great to see your beast, I'm always impressed when I see pictures of it!

Lucky for me it looks better in photos than close up in real life - it has a lot of work wear.

On another note, I also have a remote release for the bonnet - it is the second button on the control. It is great to be able to walk up to the locked & alarmed car, press the button to pop the bonnet, get the required tools out, and close up, all without having to unlock the car & open the glove box. I say connect that orange wire up.

I'll have to check it out in person some time then ;).
I'm actually going to hook up my boot release on the weekend, I've mount the solenoid and wired it up, I just need to connect up the cable.

I have that orange wire hooked up to my air horns now, not convinced it works though, may have connected it up wrong.

No luck getting the solenoid to work, Jeff do you have any pictures of your set up?

I had every intention of taking a photo of it today to post tonight. When I just got to this post, I realised that I had forgotten to take the photo. I will do it in the morning.

Sorry about that.

Timothy,

Here is a photo of my remote bonnet release as promised.

My release is a lot closer to the catch than yours - I wonder if that is part of the problem? Mine is a direct line pull for the release.

I hope this helps,

Yeah I think I might have to do that with mine, thanks!
