What is this?
Hi!
I'm new to the aircooled side of VW so I hope this isn't a silly question but can anyone tell me what this pipe is sticking out from below the
carby? It looks added on and has a spark plug wedged in the end of the hose.
I'm dying to know!
Thanks
Brendon

Looks like a vacuum hose connector that's been blanked off. Possible that it was connected to a vacuum brake booster or something. Find a brass plug
the same thread and remove all that other crap and lock the hole with the brass plug. Assuming that it hasn't been brazed or welded into the
manifold.

That can't be original as the brazing is pretty awful plus they used a common all garden 1/2bsp male to male connector instead of a barb.
Anyhow, to blank you'd need to find a female blanking plug. Try the plumbing section in Bunnings.

Thanks, someone has added it. Like you say, it's pretty messy work.
Can I just confirm that it serves no purpose and I can just block it off?

Those ports are only used in bay window kombis for the brake booster and semi automatic beetles for the clutch servo, so a slightly better block off
method and your laughing.
