Engine/ Transmission & Suspension Recommendations
Well, I never !!!!!..........the "Chairman of the Board" and "treasurer' of the corporation has spoken and agreed that we really need to have some
work done on the motor, gear box and suspension of our 70's beetle. Can't wait !!
Would like to have the whole drive train checked out and options looked at before she changes her mind. What recommendations do people have in regards
to VW specialists in and around the north Brisbane/ Sunshine Coast area that may be able to give me some guidence as to what I can do aroubnd
questions like re-conditioning verses new, upgrade engine size etc, etc

After a bit of asking around and a lot of 'luck' I've managed to get hold of Gary from Conti Engines oout around Bribie/ Ningi. Had his name come
up in conversations with others quite a bit but everyone I spoke with thought he'd given engine building away and gone FIFO mining.........however,
was talking to a guy with a trike who mentioned he had Gary service his unit and he lived just down the road from him. A phone call later and an
unplanned visit, we've got a new engine upgrade to 1776cc on the way.
Thanks for your response though. Was starting to wonder if there was anybody around.

We just got a 1776 in our 1971 1302S Beetle (Super) It goes great with stock carby rejetted. The rest of the Super suspension brakes and transmission
can handle the extra power no problem.

Hey guys, thanks for your advice/ reading suggestions.
The bug I've got is a standard 1970 unit. Had extensive panel work completed on it and at the same time has had the front drums converted to discs.
New shocks all round (standard replacement though).
Probably look at some other suspension work into the future but would need to get approval from the treasurer and that might be a bit hard right now
seeing that I've just ordered the engine !@!
