Subaru EZ-30 into a Superbettle

Hello, I am all over the place, with what I want to do. I just love the ideal of a 3liter Type IV turbo engine. I almost have all of the parts now.

Switch gears, the EZ-30,I just love its look. It can be made to be a bad a$$.Question, is the anyone that has done it successfully? O, sorry but I forgot to say into a superbeetle

wow this would be a weapon! Not sure on the dimensions but would need to move the gearbox forward I would think. A few kombis / T3's have had them put in but they have lots more room.

Why not mid mount it in the Beetle with the subi box.........:crazy::crazy:

Hi

As Lou said it might be a bit long for a Beetle and it would hang out the back a bit. When see them out of the car they don't look all that much longer than a EJ motor.

I moved my motor 100 mm forward and used alloy 944 trailing arms which move the CV joint flange out quiet a way towards the outside of the car, you can them run less angle on your CVs when the motors is moved forward.

If you plan to register it check with your local authorities first, it would be legal in NSW under the new regulations, 4x factory weight for NA motors and 2.75 for forced induction

I may be wrong, but how much more room does a Karmen Ghia has in the engine compartment? I really like that engine, I think that I can move the stock trans forward about 2 inches and still use a Berg 5 conversion.

A Karmann Ghia has a much larger engine bay than a Beetle and even then its a tight fit.

Finally getting stuck into the Ghia (EJ 20T), though seriously considering the EZ30 into the Kombi for the extra torque - but need to finish one project at a time:fakesniff:
