Using Diesel as an Engine Oil
I was talking to another customer in an autoshop - and he told me he used diesel as a temporary engine oil so that it could help clean his engine.
His car was a Ford.
It seems an extraordinary thing to do. I wonder whether anyone in this forum has tried it?

Diesel oil
Perhaps he meant using diesel oil.
I know of people who do that to clean their engines.

Diesel is oil.
You could also use heating oil.

Using diesel as an oil
I did it once to a red motor in a HR Holden. The purpose of the exercise was only to flush the inside of the motor. We used a mix [ half and half] of
diesel and the normal oil and let the motor idle for a few minutes keeping an eye on the oil light and the temp gauge. After the few minutes we
dropped the mixture out and fitted a new filter, repeating the process. After two flushes we fitted another new filter and a proper amount of fresh
oil. From memory there were no ill effects afterwards........................cheers............Wayne

Is it diesel engine oil that you used or diesel fuel?

As stated, diesel fuel is used to flush out the oil system. You don't drive or put load on the engine under this condition. I recall many years
ago
a car had been stored at a house I was renting for over 2 years. The NRMA breakdown guy couldn't get it to start (hard to turnover) and he resorted
to putting a butane stove under the sump.He then drained what oil would come out and refilled with diesel fuel. He was then able to get it to turn
easier and start. After a while he drained the oil mix and refilled with straight oil.

I read and have done this with transmission fluid too for the same effect.
