Beetle -Oil Checks
Hey,
Just a quick question on checking the oil. I know that you should push the dipstick all the way in when checking, and that the oil should lie between
both marks
However, when "refilling" the oil, how much is needed for different "levels" on the dipstick? As in, when it is 1/2 way, how much is needed to top
it up. Also, how much oil is needed to add when it is on/below both lines and empty.
I have a '71 S. Bug (1600) if that would effect anything, and thanks in advance for any replies.

...On a side note, my bug just got recently "serviced", and two weeks later is now having trouble idling. The oil level is currently 1/2 way (ish,
haven't checked too precisely yet), and was wondering if this would effect it.

Always double dip ya stick !...cos it gets an air lock in the tube and gives a wrong reading
Always keep the oil level at the top mark !...Cos ya only got 2.5L of oil in the sump at any one time
Add 250ml at half way should bring it to top mark
check your ignition points for burning or pitting as this will cause bad idle most likely need a new condenser

if the motor is cold, count to 20 after putting the dipstick in as the dipstick acts like a piston and pushes the oil out of the dipstick tube, if you
wait for a little while the oil has a chance to creep back up the tube
